Growing a Candy Cane

SUPPLIES
A terracotta pot (or any kind of sturdy planter)
A small to medium sized red and white candy cane
A large red and white candy cane
A small red and white mint candy
Planting soil

INSTRUCTIONS
Fill the pot with soil.
Plant the small mint candy with your child/children.
Over time and without them seeing, change out the mint for the small to medium sized candy cane.
Then repeat the process and switch out the smaller candy cane with the larger candy one.

Snowy Santa Boot Prints

SUPPLIES
A printed-out outline of a pair of boots
Scissors
Flour

INSTRUCTIONS
Print out an outline of large boots and cut them out.
While everyone’s asleep the night before Christmas morning, place the cut-outs on the floor and sprinkle flour around the edges.
Repeat the process and make it look as though they are footprints created by Santa walking.
In the morning, tell your child/children that they are Santa’s footprints.

A Gift From Santa

SUPPLIES
Traditional brown wrapping paper (or paper that is different than the others underneath the tree.)
Ropey string (*optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
Simply wrap a present differently than the other presents underneath the tree and write that it is from Santa. (A brown paper package tied up in string, is the most quaint way to go.)
While everyone’s asleep the night before Christmas morning, place the present underneath the tree.
In the morning, tell your child that it is a gift from Santa.

Partially Eaten Cookies

SUPPLIES
A plate of Christmas Cookies (or regular cookies)
A glass of milk (*optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
Bake or buy Christmas cookies (or regular cookies) and plate them. Put them out on a surface with a glass of milk near the Christmas tree the night before Christmas morning.
While everyone’s asleep, take a few bites of the cookies.
In the morning, tell your child/children that Santa had a snack.

Fallen Reindeer Bells

SUPPLIES
3-4 jingle bells
Red ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS
Use the ribbon to tie the jingle bells together the night before Christmas morning.
While everyone’s asleep, place them outside.
In the morning, tell your child/children they fell off the reindeer.

Partially Eaten Reindeer Food

SUPPLIES
Carrots

INSTRUCTIONS
Leave some carrots outdoors for the reindeer the night before Christmas morning.
While everyone’s asleep, replace the carrots with carrots that have bites taken out of them.
In the morning, tell your child/children that the reindeer had them as a snack.

A Mischievous Elf Message

SUPPLIES

Alphabet magnets
A refrigerator (or other available magnetic surface around the house)

INSTRUCTIONS
Place alphabet magnets on your refrigerator the night before Christmas morning.
While everyone’s asleep, arrange the magnets with a pun or an elf related joke.
In the morning, tell your child/children that the elves were playing with the magnets.
